Dubai: Dubai Police on Wednesday reminded motorists to benefit from the 50 per cent discount on traffic fines until March 1 this year.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Traffic Department, said the discount aims to encourage drivers to pay the fines, get car insurance and re-register their vehicles.
“The 50 per cent discount in traffic fines ends on March 1, 2018. The discount will give a chance for motorists to re-register their cars in a legal way,” Brigadier Al Mazroui said.
Under the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Dubai Police are offering 50 per cent discount in traffic fines imposed from January 1, 2017 to December 2, 2017.
Dubai Police have offered various means to facilitate the payment of fines — through the traffic department and all police and car registration centres as well as kiosks in all commercial centres.
Fines can also be paid online, through UAE bank sites and RTA centres. The discount will be automatically set when paying the fines.
“After March 1, the motorists will have to pay the full amount of the traffic fine without a discount,” he added.
