DUBAI: Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, has signed a contract with an international consortium for engineering, procurement and construction of the 50MW Dhofar Wind Power Project in Oman.

GE will lead the consortium, which includes Spain’s TSK, which will build 13 turbines. The project, which will offset 110,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, is the result of a joint development agreement between Masdar and the Rural Areas Electricity Company of Oman.

Mohammad Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, said: “Oman has immense untapped potential in renewable energy, particularly in solar and wind.”
