Western Region: The sour gas processing complex at the Sha gas field was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Shaikh Mohammad inaugurated the complex during a visit to the Abu Dhabi National Company’s (Adnoc) projects in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.
Shaikh Mohammad said the UAE is committed to ongoing development of the gas and oil sector, which is the cornerstone of national economy and comprehensive development in the country.
Shaikh Mohammad said efforts at comprehensive development are based on solid foundations. The late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan had laid down the principle of harnessing resources for the benefit of the people so that they became capable of carrying out their role in building the nation.
“We will continue to plan for the long-term and we will implement strategic projects to ensure energy security and achieve sustainable economic and social development,” said Shaikh Mohammad.
He also stressed the UAE’s commitment to its role as a global energy supplier. He reaffirmed the UAE’s keenness on the ideal investment of resources, the development of energy-related industries with a focus on activities that utilise advanced technologies for bolstering economic value.
Shaikh Mohammad praised Adnoc and its Emirati cadres that contributed to completing this project. During his visit, he met with Emirati cadres working in the plant and was briefed on the experiences and contributions of Emirati women in the oil, gas and petrochemicals sector.
Shaikh Mohammad said the presence of women in this sector is a source of pride and proof of the success of the policy pertaining to enhancing and developing the capabilities of Emirati cadres.
Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region.
Upon his arrival at Adnoc, Shaikh Mohammad was received by Dr Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of State and Director General of Adnoc; Vicki Hollub, President, chief operating officer and incoming chief executive officer of Occidental Petroleum; and Saif Ahmad Al Gafli, CEO of Al Hosn Gas.
