Dubai: British company Worldwide Recruitment Solution (WRS) said this week that it has won “a number of major client contracts” in the oil and gas sector in Saudi Arabia, including recruiting over 1,000 foreign nationals currently working in the kingdom.

The contracts include “working on urgent assignments to sign over 1,000 Saudi visa holders in positions such as Heavy Equipment Operators, Riggers, Welders, Pipe Fitters and Electrical Technicians,” the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The announcement comes as Saudi Arabia and many other oil-producing states in the Gulf have looked to cut costs after nearly 18 months of oil prices below $100 a barrel.

All of the contracts won by WRS stipulate that only workers holding valid and transferable Saudi Iqama visas and are in the kingdom can be recruited.

“This is a great opportunity for contracts hoping to seamlessly move into a new position. Everything is in place to transfer the contractors over to a multiple NNC clients within the Kingdom, and the positions are open to people of any nationality with a Saudi visa,” Shabana Jawaid, who heads up WRS’ operations in the Middle East, said in the statement.
