The awards were presented at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi by Mubadala Chief Operating Officer Waleed Al Mokaarab Al Muhairi on Sunday, which was the first night of Adipec.

Adipec is the regions largest oil and gas exhibition and conference, bringing together regional and international industry leaders as well as government representatives.

Other winners were Kuwait Oil Company, Qatar Shell, and Petroleum Development Oman.

Kuwait Oil Company was recognized in the best Gas & Oil Innovation or Technology category because of its work in the Kuwait Intelligent Digital Field. Qatar Shell took out the Best Gas & Oil HSE Project for its non-accidental Death Programme at Pearl GTL.

Intisar Al Kindy from the Petroleum Development Oman received the inaugural Empowerment of Women in Gas and Oil Industry award.

The Empowerment of Women in Gas and Oil Industry Award is given to recognise initiatives taken to raise the profile of female gas and oil professionals, the press release stated.

There were 292 submissions from 22 countries representing 79 organisations at this year’s award ceremony with just 18 entries across six categories shortlisted.

According to the press release, each shortlisted entre was reviewed by a minimum of seven judges with the winners selected on the basis of a three-tier evaluation process.

Al Muhairi stated that the Adipec Awards are shining a spotlight on the technical and operation know-how needed to accelerate the development of the oil and gas industries.

“As energy demand continues to increase across the region, it is essential that we raise the bar for ever-higher standards of human capital development and technological innovation,” he stated.
