Oman now receiving full volumes of Dolphin gas
Oman is now receiving the full volume of the contracted 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Dolphin gas pipeline project, senior officials of Dolphin Energy told Gulf News on the sidelines of the four-day Abu Dhabi International Petro-leum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec-2008) which began here yesterday.

Abu Dhabi: Oman is now receiving the full volume of the contracted 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Dolphin gas pipeline project, senior officials of Dolphin Energy told Gulf News on the sidelines of the four-day Abu Dhabi International Petro-leum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec-2008) which began here yesterday.
The gas transmission to Oman is as per the the gas sales agreement (GSA) signed by Dolphin Energy and Oman Oil Company in September 2005.
In energy terms, the volume translates into 33,000 barrels per day of oil equivalent.
The Dolphin gas pipe-line, which connects Qatar with the UAE, delivers some two billion standard cubic feet (bscf) of natural gas per day. Oman will be receiving some 10 per cent of this quantity.
Adel Ahmad Al Buainain, General Manager-Qatar for Dolphin Energy said Oman initially received 130 million cubic feet of gas on October 31 when the gas deliveries first started, which was later ramped up to the full capacity in line with the agreement.
Expansion
Provision has been made to expand Dolphin's gas throughput from Qatar to 3.2 bscf per day, subject to future agreement by Qatar authorities.
Ebrahim Ahmad Al Ansari, General Manager- UAE for Dolphin Energy said that Qatar has imposed a moratorium on new gas supplies until 2012. He wouldn't comment on the price at which UAE and Oman are receiving the gas from Qatar.
Dolphin's gas is produced offshore of Qatar and is processed onshore at its Ras Laffan gas processing plant.
The gas is then compressed and pumped through the export pipe-line to Dolphin's receiving facilities in Abu Dhabi for distribution to customers.
