Dubai: Onion prices drop to Dh1 per kilogram, time to stock up

The maximum price of oranges increased to Dh10 per kilogram, but other essentials stay steady

Dubai: With the weekend here, it is time to stock up on some onions. The minimum price of onions dropped to Dh1 per kilogram today, from Dh1.9 yesterday. Onions make a great base for most Indian dishes, so give curries a try over the weekend.

Oranges, though, saw a slight increase in their maximum price, going from Dh8 per kilogram to Dh10.

The minimum price of oranges, however, stayed stable at Dh4.8 per kilogram.

Prices of essential items remained steady, as has been the case for most of the week. Proteins from eggs to beef saw their prices stay in check, along with pantry essentials like flour, rice and pasta. Milk prices, too, have stayed stable over several days, with a litre of milk ranging between Dh5.8 to Dh6 at the most.

If you are running out of masks or hand sanitisers, don’t worry about high prices. The cost of hygiene essentials has stayed steady over many days in Dubai.
