An Instagram user, Katharina Wallén, captured a video of a starving bee attempting to feed. She rescued it and shared the video on social media, which has since gone viral.
In the video, a bumblebee is spotted climbing onto a woman's shoes during a walk. The bee seemed to be following the woman, searching for flowers to feed on. The woman noticed that one of the bee's wings was broken, and it appeared to be injured. She placed a flower in front of the bee, it eagerly consumed the nectar and pollen. Realising that the bee could not fly due to its injury, she decided to take it home with her.
The video shows how she built a shelter for the bee, provided it with flowers, and kept sugar water for it.
Since sharing her first video on August 21, she has posted multiple videos of the bumble bee, showcasing its routine, favourite flower, and how it has become a part of her family.
Posting updates about the bumblebee, Wallén created a cosy nest for the bumblebee and provides fresh flowers daily. She also made a small cave-like area where the bee could rest. In one post, she said it quickly became a beloved part of Wallén's daily routine.
She named her pet Sweet Pea and shared its favourite flowers, including sunflowers, poppies, sweet peas, and asters, with users who asked about its preferences.
In another video, Wallén explains that the bumblebee has been in her care for over three weeks despite the average lifespan of these insects being only four weeks.
The woman has been keeping her Instagram followers updated on the bee's progress, and many users are offering tips on how to care for these lovely creatures. The woman also shared that the bee is getting better.
Since being posted, it has been viewed more than 44.9 million views on TikTok.
