Manama: A Saudi scouter was offered a 2013 Land Cruiser by his wife at a reception to mark his retirement after decades of services.

Mohammad Bin Sa’ad Al Omari’s wife said that the gift was in appreciation of her husband’s “distinguished role in raising their children and his outstanding services to local scouts and to Saudi Arabia”.

The reception in Al Mekhwat in western Saudi Arabia was hosted by fellow scouters to express their gratitude to Al Omari following 38 years of service.

However, they said at the get-together that their gift was a gold set for his wife for her patience and fortitude during his repeated stays away from home and travels within Saudi Arabia and abroad.

The wife, who was not named, responded to the unexpected scouters’ gesture by ordering the new vehicle for her husband.

According to news site Ajil, more than 200 people attending the reception offered personal gifts to Al Omari.

The list of attendees included teachers, educators, heads of tribes, scouts and students.
