Ramallah: The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) has decided to take Israel to the International Court of Justice for illegal and frequent freezing of tax funds which Israel collects on behalf of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

"A complaint will shortly be filed at the International Court of Justice," Hanna Amirah, a member of the PLO Executive Committee, told Gulf News.

"Israel is using Palestinian tax funds as a weapon to punish the Palestinian people and that will not be allowed," he said.

"The PLO will face Israel at the international court to defend the Palestinian rights," he stressed.

As per several agreements, it is an Israeli obligation to transfer the tax revenues every month. "This is not done for free. Israel deducts its percentage before the funds are transferred to the PNA," he said.

It was agreed that Israel collects tax funds till the PNA wins sovereignty over the border points, he said.

Following these developments, the leadership is reviewing the controversial issue of Palestinian and Israeli commitment to signed agreements.

"We are also in contact with the international community," he said.
