At least two dead in blast outside Iranian embassy in Baghdad

Last updated:

Baghdad: A police official says at least two civilians have been killed and five wounded when a car bomb exploded near the Iranian Embassy.

The official says Sunday's blast occurred during morning rush hour in a parking lot across the street from the embassy. The official spoke on condition of anonymity
because he was not authorised to release the information.

He says two civilians were killed and the wounded included three embassy guards.

The bombing underscores military warnings that insurgents remain a dangerous threat despite recent security gains that have pushed the number of Iraqi civilian casualties to their lowest levels in more than four years.
