Dubai: The Carpet Cleaning and Sterilization Administration (CCSA) at the Grand Mosque achieved a new record time of nine minutes and 47 seconds in cleaning the circumambulation area around the Holy Kaabah (Mataf) on the 27th night of Ramadan after Maghrib prayer, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The team’s plan included cleaning the carpets of the Grand Mosque and the courtyards.
They also collected garbage manually throughout the night.
Their systematic strategy kept the main entrance, walkways and prayer halls within the Grand Mosque and the piazzas perfumed at all times.
The number of male and female workers, who worked in shifts, totaled 3,000.
Mohammad Bin Musslih Al Jabri, the general administration for services affairs director, said that on that night, 291 tons of garbage was collected and transported from within the Grand Mosque.
“Some 25,000 carpets, 1,500 large garbage dumpsters and 1,500 small garbage dumpsters were secured. The tasks of the administration are mainly to supervise and follow up the implementation of the cleaning plan and Grand Mosque services,” he said.
This included spreading “sufras” (Iftar meals) inside the mosque, while supervising the cleaning and maintenance works of the external utilities that belong to it.
