Cairo: Oman's Health Ministry Friday confirmed 154 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing to 3,112 the country's overall infections.

The newly diagnosed cases are 42 Omanis and 112 foreigners, the Health Ministry said without giving a breakdown of foreign patients’ nationalities.

The overall number of recoveries in Oman has reached 1,025, the ministry added, according to the Omani news agency ONA said.

A 66-year-foreign resident who had been infected with COVID-19, died, raising such fatalities in Oman to 15, according to the ministry.

Oman has tested a large number of expatriate workers after coronavirus infections were detected among them, Health Minister Ahmad Al Saidi has said.

The country so far has conducted 50,000 tests, he added.
