Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Said died on Friday evening, state media said early on Saturday, and a three-day period of national mourning was declared.

Omanis took to social media channels such as Twitter and Instagram to share the news and condolences. Many said that the exemplary leader will be missed.

Many considered Sultan Qaboos as the father of modern Oman and a visionary. They thanked him for the development of Oman. It was under his leadership that the country got many new schools and hospitals.

Many others called him a peace-loving leader and praised the efforts he took to promote peace and stability not just in Oman but in the entire region.
