Muscat: At least 12 people were killed and 152 injured in 127 car accidents in Oman between May 29 and June 4, according to a Royal Oman Police statement.

The most gruesome incident happened in the north in Batinah, in which five people were killed.

Head-on collisions accounted for the largest number of road accidents last week.

Of the total, 60 incidents involved vehicles colliding head-on, while 29 were caused by vehicles crashing into stationary objects, 24 instances of toppling and overturning and 14 involved pedestrians being run over by vehicles.
