Dubai: Employers in Kuwait must pay workers’ salaries no later than the seventh day after the due date, the Public Authority for Manpower said in a new directive, warning that delays could lead to legal action under the country’s labor law.

The warning came as part of an awareness campaign launched this week across the Authority’s social media platforms, targeting companies —particularly those operating under government contracts — to reinforce labour compliance and wage protection.

Kuwaiti authorities said the campaign aims to crack down on wage violations and ensure financial stability for workers, emphasizing that any breach of the payment deadline would be treated as a legal offense.

The campaign also outlined strict housing standards for workers, including a requirement to provide a first aid room supervised by a licensed nurse in any facility accommodating more than 200 employees.

Companies are banned from using labour housing for non-residential purposes, and food storage on the premises must comply with health and safety regulations.

Employers are also required to ensure adequate facilities and routine maintenance, with housing conditions proportional to the number of residents.

The Authority said it will continue monitoring companies and urged employers to comply fully with labor regulations to avoid penalties.
