Cairo: Kuwait has confirmed 609 further cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country's infection tally to 34,432, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported Thursday.

Four more deaths from COVID-19 were reported, bringing the total such fatalities in the country to 277.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a media update.

There are 184 patients receiving intensive care treatment, according to the official.

The ministry reported that 849 more patients have recovered from the disease over the past 24 hours, bringing to 24,137 the total of such recoveries in the country, KUNA reported.
