Radio tags target cheats at exam
London: An exam board is using electronic tagging devices in a bid to combat cheating this summer.
Edexcel's computer-based marking system will also flag up any unexpectedly good results that could be the product of cheating.
Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel's managing director, said: "We're doing a major trial of new technologies with the aim of deterring potential thefts, enabling us to better identify the source of a lost or stolen paper, and reducing the threat of fake papers being sold to candidates." A number of exam paper bags will be fitted with radio-frequency ID tags, which Edexcel staff will be able to scan to check whether papers are missing.
