Stockholm: The economics prize is the only Nobel not originally included in Alfred Nobel’s last will and testament. It was established in 1968 by the Swedish central bank in his memory to celebrate its tricentenary.
Since it was first awarded in 1969, Americans have dominated the economics prize, with 56 of the 79 laureates holding US citizenship, including those who have dual nationalities.
