Abu Dhabi: The UAE has condemned North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile launch, affirming that the new test represents a challenge to relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and a genuine threat to international security and stability.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation emphasised the need to maintain the rules against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the world. It also noted that violation of these norms is a threat and a flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolutions that is likely to undermine prospects of peace and security in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.
The statement requested North Korea to abide by Security Council resolutions, calling upon all parties concerned to adopt dialogue and diplomatic solutions in order to decrease tension and maintain international peace and security.
