Manila: Two police officers were declared dead on arrival after being struck by lightning.

The unfortunate incident took place in the parking area of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion Headquarters in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on the night of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, according to local media.

Reports state that the two victims were conducting a routine patrol when heavy rain accompanied by lightning began.

As the two cops parked their motorcycle outside the headquarters, lightning struck them amid heavy downpour.

The Philippine National Police Regional Office 4B identified the victims as Patrolman Laudelina Samarita Lomio, 31 , and Patrolman Ruzzel Jay Fontarum, 30.

Their fellow officers reportedly discovered their lifeless bodies when they checked the area.

They were rushed to Mindoro Medical Center but were already dead when they arrived.
