Army to join police in Manila slums

Manila: Joint teams of policemen and soldiers will be deployed in depressed communities in Metro Manila to serve as a deterrent against criminal elements and insurgents, national capital region military chief Maj Gen Benjamin Dolorfino said.

Dolorfino said a total of 26 military teams will be "redeployed" in certain urban poor areas starting this week in conjunction with the police.
