Dubai: A ‘fangirl’ moment by Malaysia’s First Lady, 92-year-old Siti Hasmah Mohammad Ali, is going viral on social media.

Standing with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan for a photograph, she politely asked, “Can I hold your hand?”, to which the Pakistan Prime Minister responded with a chivalrous, “Sure!”. Ali couldn’t contain her happiness, raising her shoulders in glee as she held his hand for the press photo op. The interaction drew a collective ‘aww’ from social media as the video was shared by several users.

Khan concluded his two-day official visit to Malaysia on Wednesday and tweeted in English and Urdu, thanking the Malaysian President and the community for the warmth with which the Pakistani delegation was received. A separate tweet, however, was reserved for the First Lady and her hospitality.

The visit created a lot of interest on social media, as some tweeps discussed how Malaysia was preparing for the Pakistani officials, while Gulf News journalist Sana Jamal noted a lesser known fact about the Malaysian First Family - they had adopted two children from Pakistan many years ago.
