Police officers who stopped a car en route to Shivamogga from Bengaluru were surprised when a search of the vehicle revealed wads of cash on Saturday. In Rs2,000 notes lay bundles stuffed into a spare tyre; a total of Rs2.30 crore (Rs23 million; Dh1.2 million) was retrieved.

Various raids in Karnataka-Goa by the Income Tax department also led to the confiscation of Rs40 million, as per Indian media reports.
