Case of attempted murder booked against the group
Hyderabad: Son of a ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leader and his friends stabbed a toll plaza manager when asked to pay Rs30 (Dh1.71) as toll fee in Ranga Reddy district adjoining Hyderabad Monday night.
Cyberabad Police said the incident occurred at the toll plaza at Kadthal on Hyderabad-Srisailam highway.
TRS Corporotor of LB Nagar in Hyderabad Lakshmi Prasanna’s son Manish Goud and his five friends also vandalised the toll plaza and attacked other staff members leaving three of them injured.
The police have booked a case of attempted murder against the assailants and arrested them.
Amangal police station inspector Ravindra Prasad said the incident occurred when the six BTech students were returning to Hyderabad after celebrating the birthday of one of their friends. “When they were asked to pay Rs30 at the toll plaza, Manish, who was in the driving seat, started arguing. One of the occupants of the vehicle chased and stabbed themanager M Mahesh”, the inspector said quoting eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses told the police that the group was drunk.
Some of the onlookers recorded the incident on their mobile phones and it was shown on local TV channels.
As the goons fled the scene, the toll plaza staff informed the Amangal police station and the police intercepted the vehicle on the highway.
Manish’s father Ram Mohan Goud is the LB Nagar constituency in charge of the TRS.
After a public outcry over the incident on social media, the Minister for urban development K Taraka Rama Rao assured action against the guilty. “Absolutely action will be taken”, he tweeted and informed that the accused were remanded in police custody.
