Mumbai, August 15, 2025 — Mumbai’s iconic seafront has a spectacular new addition as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis virtually inaugurated a 5.25-kilometre promenade along the Mumbai Coastal Road. The project also includes four pedestrian underpasses, marking a milestone in the city’s urban development.

Starting August 15, Mumbaikars can enjoy leisurely walks, jogging, or cycling along this scenic stretch, which is more than twice the length of the famous Marine Drive. The promenade runs from Priyadarshini Park to Worli, offering broad footpaths, landscaped gardens, and cycling tracks, complete with wheelchair-friendly ramps to ensure accessibility for all.

Strategically placed benches invite visitors to relax and take in breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. At the same time, four newly built pedestrian underpasses at Bhulabhai Desai Road, Haji Ali Junction, near Worli Dairy, and Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk provide safe and convenient access across busy roads.

Constructed on reclaimed land and engineered to withstand the powerful monsoon tides, the promenade serves a dual purpose: it offers residents a fresh recreational space. It acts as a coastal protection barrier against erosion and flooding.

This new sea-facing walkway promises not only to enhance Mumbai’s urban landscape but also to become a beloved destination where residents and visitors alike can connect with the city’s maritime heritage while enjoying a breath of fresh sea air.
