The couple has yet to comment publicly or confirm the reports
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pinaki Misra have reportedly married in a quiet, private ceremony, according to The Telegraph India. The wedding is said to have taken place on May 3, with both political figures keeping the event strictly confidential.
Even close aides and party insiders were unaware of the development until recently. No official confirmation has been issued by either Moitra or Misra, and both the TMC and BJD have remained silent on the matter.
Speculation intensified after photographs surfaced from Germany, allegedly showing Moitra smiling and wearing gold jewellery, fuelling talk of a wedding. While the images have made the rounds online, the couple has yet to comment publicly or confirm the reports.
Moitra, a two-time Member of Parliament representing Krishnanagar in West Bengal, is known for her sharp parliamentary speeches and vocal criticism of the central government. A former investment banker, she made a swift transition into politics and quickly rose to national prominence.
This is believed to be Moitra’s second marriage. She was previously married to Danish financier Lars Brorson. In recent years, she was involved in a highly publicised relationship with lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai. That relationship ended bitterly, resulting in legal disputes and public accusations, and was a key factor in the controversy that led to Moitra’s suspension from the Lok Sabha in December 2023.
Pinaki Misra, a veteran BJD leader, is a four-time MP from Puri, Odisha. A senior advocate by profession, Misra was earlier married to Sangeeta Misra, with whom he has two children.
While there has been no official word from either politician, the unconfirmed marriage has sparked significant interest in political circles, given the prominence and past public controversies surrounding both figures.
Until a formal statement is issued, the reported union remains a matter of speculation — but one that’s already making waves in the world of Indian politics.
