Thiruvananthapuram: Days after the body of a young Kerala mimicry artist was found in a sack dumped by the roadside near Pampady in Kottayam district, police have taken into custody a woman, who is running an institution that supplies home nurses.
The deceased, Lenish, 31, who hailed from Changanacherry was a salesman and mimicry artiste and his body was found on Friday in a rubber plantation by the roadside. Police took into custody today the suspect, identified as Sreekala, 43, a native of Thrikkodithanam. Early reports indicate that the woman was in love with Lenish and had fallen out with him after she found he had another lover.
Police believe that Sreekala, piqued by Lenish’s other love affair, may have paid a gang to beat up Lenish, and that he may have died in the attack. It is also suspected that Sreekala may have accompanied the gang on the mission. When Lenish’s body was found, it was draped in a churidhar. Police had pieced together the parts of the churidhar and shown it to local people during investigation to identify those behind the murder.
During investigation, vital clues emerged from mobile tower locations of the phones used by the deceased and the accused. It is suspected that the murder was carried out during the day, but investigators are clueless as to how the body could have been dumped by the roadside during the day.
