Dubai: He’s alive and ‘Kiki’ng . But, Jawahar Subhash Chandra from Kerala was shocked when he discovered that a social media ad campaign by the police in the Indian state of Rajasthan featured him as ‘dead’ while doing the viral Kiki challenge.

In a tweet that had a picture of Chandra, the Jaipur Police posted: “Don’t challenge death. Be wise - keep away from silly stunts and advise your friends as well to stay safe.”

Under the picture it also read, “In loving memory of KK — Loving boyfriend of Kiki, died while doing the Shiggy.”

However, the Kochi resident who is well and truly alive started receiving phone calls from concerned friends and family. The first phone call was from his wife after spotting the social media ad.

According to Indian newspaper Deccan Chronicle, the police have justified the act by saying that the photograph of the man was purchased from a website. Commissioner Sanjay Agarwal was quoted as saying: “It is not illegal. Our social media team has bought the photo from a website.”

So how did Jaipur police get this picture? According to Indian news outlet, The News Minute, Chandra said: “The photo is 10 years old and was taken by my brother-in-law who is an ad photographer. The image found its way to Shutterstock and I am guessing it is from there that the police picked it up and used it.”

The #InMyFeelings challenge (or Kiki challenge) that was originally kicked off by comedian @theshiggyshow on his Instagram account, soon became a viral trend.

Traffic authorities in many parts of the world have warned against the dangers of participating in the challenge in which youngsters are seen jumping out of moving cars to dance in the middle of the road.

The #KikiChallenge is illegal in the UAE. The online video challenge can lead to Dh2,000 fine and 23 black points in the country.

Last month, the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution ordered the arrest and prosecution of three social media personalities for endangering their lives and lives of other road users as they performed 'Kiki dance' on the road.
