Hyderabad: All 149 passengers aboard a Jazeera airlines Kuwait-Hyderabad flight had a narrow escape, when one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire soon after landing at the Shamshabad International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to officials, the incident occurred at 1.35am, as the Jazeera flight J9608 landed at Shamshabad airport.

The right-side engine caught fire and the pilot immediately switched off the engine and stopped the flight on the taxiway, as fire engines rushed in and brought the fire under control. Later, the plane was brought to its allotted Bay No. 59 and all passengers disembarked safely. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

Sources said that the cause of the fire was being invested, and a technical problem is suspected.
