App brings together all essential train travel services under one platform
Indian Railways is ushering in a digital revolution with the launch of RailOne, a comprehensive superapp that brings together all essential train travel services under a single platform. The move is part of a broader effort to modernise the country’s rail network, improve user convenience, and align services with global digital standards. This transformation, which came into effect from July 1, is accompanied by several important changes to passenger policies, ticketing, and fare structures.
The RailOne superapp is being hailed as a one-stop solution for all passenger needs — from booking tickets and checking PNR status to accessing real-time train tracking, platform details, meal orders, and lodging services. With its clean interface and intuitive design, RailOne consolidates multiple railway apps into a unified platform, eliminating the need to switch between different portals for different tasks. Users can also link their DigiLocker, access IRCTC tourism services, and explore nearby hotels and transport options seamlessly.
Beyond simplifying bookings, the app is integrated with AI-powered chat support, offering instant responses to passenger queries. The app is expected to handle millions of daily users and improve customer satisfaction across both rural and urban demographics.
The app also accommodates refund requests for missed or cancelled journeys.
Book all types of tickets
Search trains and plan journeys
Check real-time train status and coach position updates
Order food from partner vendors during travel
Lodge complaints
Enquire about freight services
Access services with numeric mPin or biometric login
Alongside the rollout of RailOne, the Indian Railways has introduced a number of major rule changes that affect passengers directly. Here’s a breakdown of what’s new:
From July 1, booking Tatkal tickets has become stricter. Passengers must now provide authentic ID verification while booking. This is intended to reduce misuse of the Tatkal system by touts and booking agents. Moreover, the cancellation refund policy for Tatkal tickets is now more stringent — no refund will be issued for last-minute cancellations unless it’s a train cancellation or schedule change by Indian Railways.
Indian Railways has implemented a nominal fare increase on premium trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat. The move aims to offset rising operational costs and improve onboard services. Though the hike is modest (between Rs10–Rs50 on average), it will be felt across different classes depending on the route and demand.
