India confirms 3 new cases of swine flu, raising total to 59
New Dehli: India's health ministry says it detected three new confirmed cases of swine flu over the weekend, bringing the country's total to 59.
The ministry said in a statement Sunday that the cases include a married couple who flew to the southern Indian city of Chennai from the United States.
The third person to be infected with the virus was a teenage Indian who returned to New Delhi from the United States.
The World Health Organisation has declared swine flu a pandemic. As of Friday, it said more than 44,200 cases had been reported worldwide with 180 deaths, mostly in Mexico and the United States.
