India: 4 killed, 1 injured after wall collapses during wedding
Wall was constructed by the owner of the function hall without any structural support
Hyderabad: Four persons died and one was critically injured after a portion of a function hall collapsed when the wedding celebrations were underway.
The incident took place on Sunday in Hyderabad.
Narrating the incident, Ramesh, DCP, East Zone, Hyderabad City said, "Today a marriage was being performed in Pearl gardens in Golnaka area. During the celebrations, a wall which was constructed by the owner of the function hall without any structural support for elevation collapsed. Unfortunately, five members got stuck under the wall. Four members including a woman have died on the spot and one more person sustained severe injuries."
He continued, "The injured person was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and the bodies have been shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination."
A case has been registered at Amberpet police station. It is yet to be verified whether the function hall has all the required permissions from the authorities or not. The search for the owner of the function hall is on.
