Teams sent to raid companies with Reddy links

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation continued its crackdown against the YSR Congress President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's companies in Hyderabad and other places for the second day yesterday.

At least 15 teams of the agency were searching the offices of several companies including those who had made huge investments in the business of Jagan over the last few years.

Companies of well known industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, a major beneficiary of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy government were the major focus of attention of the CBI yesterday.

Two teams of 12 raided his Vanpic company in the Banjara Hills area and seized several documents and hard disks for information pertaining to the allotment of lands by the government for the development of a port and various other projects.

CBI Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana was also present at the Vanpic office during the search operation.

Raids carried out

One more team of the CBI left Hyderabad for Visakhapatanam for carrying out raids on companies which had links with Jaganmohan Reddy.

Lakshminarayana said that the next course of action will be decided after the completion of the search and seizure operation.

He did not rule out the possibility of raids on more companies saying it depends on what the investigations so far reveal.

"We will call the people for questioning on the basis of the information we get from the documents seized", he said.

The agency has already informed the special court that it will require another one week for completion of its operation.

The companies which were raided yesterday include Brahmini Infotech, Penna Cements, Nimmgadda Foundation, Aurbindo Pharma, RR Globals, Navabharat Ventures, Bommarilu Developers and Haritha Fertilisers.

Offices of Bayyaram Mining in Khammam and Polepally SEZ in Mahbubnagar district were also raided. Haritha Fertiliser is owned by Ravindarnath Reddy, uncle of Jagan and former Mayor of Kadapa.

All were again major beneficiaries of various decisions taken by Jaganmohan Reddy's father Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy who he was the Chief Minister of the state from 2004 to 2009.
