Herat, Afghanistan: A bomb rocked the Western Afghan province of Herat on Tuesday morning, although no casualties have so far been reported.

The explosion occurred near the Provincial Government Office in the city centre.

On August 24, Afghan newspaper Eslah Daily reported that President Karzai appointed Daud Saba as acting governor of the province. He was appointed as the former governor Mohammad Yusuf Nuristani is running in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

It is possible that the explosion has political connections, local security sources told Gulf News.
