Sri Lanka’s lawmakers elected Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as the new president on Wednesday, to lead the country out of the acute economic crisis. Wickremesinghe, a six-time prime minister, replaces Gotabaya Rajapaksa who last week fled the country, which was rocked by months of protests.
