Dubai: UAE beachgoers have been warned that seawaters will be rough today, as fresh winds blowing over the Arabian Gulf could kick up waves up to six feet high offshore.

Fresh northeasterly winds will continue moving at speeds of 40 kilometres per hour on Monday, stirring up waves between four feet and six feet off the coast, according to forecasters.


The National Centre for Meteorology has raised an alert for people going to the beach today, including along the coast of Dubai,  Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman.

“Be on the lookout if you go in for outdoor activities,” the warning reads.

UAE residents have been experiencing changing weather conditions recently, with temperatures starting to show signs of cooling down and rains hitting some parts of the country..

Mercury levels dipped to as low as 11.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday

The weather across the country will remain fair to partly cloudy in general. The lowest minimum temperature recorded this morning at Jais Mountain touched 12.4 degrees Celsius at 4pm.

Fresh winds will also kick up dust over exposed locations.
