The U.S. military has expressed its intention of hiring at least 200 Filipino cooks and food servers to serve in its naval facility in Cuba, Labour Secretary Patricia Santo Tomas said.

Earlier, the U.S. military recruited about the same number of Filipino labourers to construct prison facilities in Guantanamo Bay Naval Facility in Cuba where hundreds of suspected extremists captured by allied forces in Afghanistan have been detained since early this year.

According to Santo Tomas, the U.S. military wants Filipinos to cook and serve food to American troops and the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.
