Sharjah: 3 killed, 6 injured in two accidents

Sharjah: A 26-year-old Filipina driver and a six-year-old Emirati boy died in a road accident in Sharjah on Sunday night, a Sharjah Police official said.

The child’s sister survived the accident but is in a serious condition.

The six-year-old and his sister were accompanied by the deceased who was working as a driver for their family.

The collision took place at 11.30 pm on Shaikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Road between a saloon car driven by the deceased and another car driven by a 27-year-old Emirati man.

The accident happened as a result of speeding and reckless driving by the Emirati driver, police said.

A police patrol and ambulance rushed to the accident site. The Filipina and the boy were killed on the spot due while the girl and the Emirati sustained serious injuries and were taken to Al Qasimi Hospital.

Major Khalid Al Kay, director of the Media and the Traffic Awareness Department, said the accident was due to a lack of attention and speeding.

He urged motorists to abide by traffic rules and speed limits and pay attention to the road while driving, especially when children are in the car.

On Monday afternoon, a 62-year-old Emirati man was killed while his wife and his three daughters sustained minor to moderate injuries when their car overturned on Al Dhaid Road.

The victim, identified as M.S.M., was killed on the spot while his wife identified as Sh.R.A.,33, and her three daughters, identified as Sh.M.S.,13, M.M.S.,12, and H.M.S.,10, were taken to Al Dhaid Hospital.
