Abu Dhabi: Volunteers of Takatof, the volunteering arm of the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, concluded their voluntary activities at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2012.
“I am proud of what Takatof volunteers achieved this weekend. They made sure people were able to enjoy the fantastic race that Lotus won, while ensuring spectators safety during the biggest sporting event in the country,” said Chief Programmes Officer of the Foundation Maitha Al Habsi.
“Each volunteer played a significant part in representing their country, and they all did it with a smile on their face. Takatof volunteers are UAE’s pride.”
Hundreds of UAE nationals were volunteering at the Grand Prix offering a range of services inside and outside Yas Marina Circuit, such as meeting and greeting up to 50,000 spectators. These Takatof volunteers also ensured the safety of the crowd while Kimi Raikkonen crossed the finishing line in first place ahead of Fernando Alonso.
The main duties of Takatof volunteers were welcoming spectators at Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports, organising transport, helping guests in the grandstands, and volunteering at Ferrari World.
