Dubai: A total solar eclipse will plunge five Arab countries into darkness on August 2, 2027, in a rare celestial phenomenon, according to NASA.

The eclipse will pass over Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt before continuing toward parts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

This astronomical event is expected to be the longest total solar eclipse of the century, with total darkness lasting up to six minutes and 26 seconds. It will be the longest such eclipse since 2009, and scientists say a similar event will not occur again until the year 2114.
