Dubai: A Kerala businessman who purchased his first ever ticket of Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion online has joined the list of Dubai Duty Free millionaires in the draw held at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport on Tuesday.

Prabin Thomas, a 40-year-old Indian national who runs a networking business that sells IT products in Kerala, won US$1 million in Series 265 with ticket number 0471. Though a regular buyer of local lottery tickets in India, Thomas has never won anything before, until he decided to try his luck with the Millennium Millionaire promotion and purchased his first ticket online.

When asked about his initial plans, he said: “I will expand my networking business and probably start a small software company. Thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free!”

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, one more winner was announced in the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Promotion to win a luxury motorbike — a BMW R Nine T Urban GS (Light White).

Afzaan Jilla, a 33-year-old Indian national based in Dubai won the stylish motorbike in Series 329 with ticket number 0730. Jilla who works for MEIAC as administrator manager is a self-confessed biker, which is the main reason why he only buys tickets for the Finest Surprise motorbike draw for over six years now.

“I’m so happy. I almost gave up after trying for the longest time. Winning today has restored my faith in the raffle draw. Thank you, Dubai Duty Free!”

The latest Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw was conducted by Colm McLoughlin, executive vice-chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free; Ramesh Cidambi, chief operating officer; and Sinead El Sibai, senior vice-president, Marketing.
