Women in the UAE are playing a pivotal role in reshaping the business landscape, leading in key sectors such as technology, healthcare, sustainability, and social impact. The UAE, known for its progressive and forward-thinking approach, has created an ecosystem where female entrepreneurs and business leaders thrive.

A panel discussion at Gulf News and BeingShe’s event The Future of Women Leaders Forum 2025 brought together some of the leading dynamic female leaders in the country to share insights on innovation, leadership, and the power of female-led transformation.

Debanjali Kamstra, Founder and Director of Veloche Global and Mrs. Earth 2023, set the tone by highlighting the unique advantages women have in the UAE. "In my 15-year career, I did not have to smash, reshape, or innovate anything to get opportunities. The UAE has provided an equal if not greater playing field for women to succeed," she stated. Her journey from an Emirates flight attendant to a successful entrepreneur with six companies under her leadership underscores the country’s supportive business environment for women.

The pressure to balance multiple roles is a challenge many women face. Anisha Sagar, Managing Partner at Créo Global, addressed this, saying, "I definitely think we can do it all, but should we do it all? I don’t think so. Do what is purposeful. Build strong teams and allies who can help carry the vision forward." She emphasized the importance of delegation and avoiding burnout by creating support systems both at home and in the workplace.

Jessica Schroeder, Head of Corporate Communications & Government Relations, Market Area Middle East & Egypt at BASF, shared her experience navigating a male-dominated industry. "I work in the chemicals industry. So you can guess that most of my colleagues are men. When you’re the only woman at the leadership table, you need to make sure your voice is heard," she said. By leading sustainability initiatives and taking charge of critical projects, she has not only established herself but also paved the way for other women to follow.

For real change to occur, organizations must actively support and retain female leaders. Neeta Tarachandani, Head of Business at Doo Group, illustrated this with a personal story. Upon taking up her leadership role, she faced initial scepticism, even from a former colleague who her firm was planning to recruit. "My CEO stepped in and said, ‘I don’t want people who don’t support women or see their potential.’ That’s how an organization can support women," she recounted. Her experience highlights the critical role of leadership in fostering inclusive workplaces.

Latika Chopra, Founder & Director of Hola Keto, pointed out that digital platforms are becoming a game-changer for female entrepreneurs. "Women are using technology, social media, Instagram, LinkedIn to talk about their businesses and work. [Across the world], digital media is helping women scale their ventures and make an impact," she observed.

The importance of allies in advancing women’s careers was another key theme. Nikita Taimni, Marketing and Public Relations Specialist at Inaayat, emphasized that gender equity is a collective responsibility. "Allies speak for us in rooms we haven’t yet entered, opening doors for us. Women are 50% of the population. When we raise each other up, we’re raising half of society," she stated.

The panel concluded with insights from the speaker on how to nurture future female leaders. Among the ideas were going beyond mentorship and bringing women to leadership tables; working to make an impact; and working towards a vision.
