Dubai: Residents will soon be able to pay their fines, renew their registration or visas and access all of the Ministry of Interior’s services through an interactive kiosk device, which will be installed in public areas across the UAE.
“The interactive kiosk features a scanner and a large screen. A customer service employee will appear on the screen, streaming live to tend to the customer,” Captain Salem Al Mazroui, a representative of the ministry said,
“After verifying the user’s ID card via the scanner, the customer service employee will be able to access all of the person’s records with the ministry. Customers can then renew their registrations, passports and visas. They can also pay their fines via the integrated credit card machine. The kiosk offers the entirety of the ministry’s services.”
Al Mazroui said that the kiosk was designed so residents can save time and avoid the hassle of going to multiple departments to take care of their applications and fines.
“Dealing with government transactions and paperwork can be a really arduous task,” he said. “We designed this kiosk so residents don’t have to go through the hassle of finding parking spots and scampering to different government departments around the country. The kiosk was built to serve as a one-stop shop for all of the ministry’s services.”
“So far, you can access the kiosk’s functions in either Arabic or English,” he said. “We will be adding Urdu to the software soon. The interactive kiosk can also help users find their way around the city by printing maps to nearby police stations or hospitals, for example. The kiosk is still in its first phase of development. We plan to install it across public areas, including shopping malls and government departments.”
The interactive kiosk comes as part of the ministry’s plan to make all their services available electronically.
“We have a smartphone app as well,” Al Mazroui said, “It allows users to access the ministry’s services via their phones. Residents can also visit the ministry’s website to pay their fines and renew their passports or visas. Another option would be calling our toll-free number (8005000) which features an interactive voice response to efficiently tend to the customer’s needs.”
