Abu Dhabi: Funds for a vocational diploma programme for Emiratil high school graduates was approved by the committee on following up the implementation of the initiatives of the President.
The programme will be implemented by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) across the UAE. ACTVET, in coordination with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), will work on developing the programme which will enrol students who were not able to obtain the minimum score of 150 at CEPA (Common Educational Proficiency Assessment) required to join universities.
The approval was given on the directives of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The beneficiaries of the programme are 3,775 students from all emirates with 1,919 in the emirate of Abu Dhabi alone. Upon joining the programme, eligible students will receive two years of vocational training which could lead them to promising job opportunities in different sectors.
The approval of the funds reflects the great interest of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in qualifying and educating Emirati youth, considered by him as the nation’s precious assets, to meet the demands of national development, Ahmad Jumaa Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs who chaired the Committee’s meeting, said.
ACTVET will cover the study costs for students from Abu Dhabi and the committee will pay Dh67.2 million for students from all other emirates.
