Dakar: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Monday inaugurated the new UAE Embassy building in Dakar, Senegal.
Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Mohammad Salem Al Rashidi, UAE Ambassador to Senegal, were present during the inauguration.
Shaikh Abdullah and Sidiki Kaba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the opening of the new building of the UAE Embassy.
Shaikh Abdullah said that the opening of the new headquarters of the UAE Embassy in Dakar reflects the UAE government’s earnestness to enhance its bilateral relations with Senegal and develop cooperation in various fields.
During his visit, Shaikh Abdullah was received by President Macky Sall of Senegal.
They spoke about ways to enhance bilateral relations and develop joint cooperation. They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern and discussed the latest developments in the region.
Shaikh Abdullah stressed the UAE’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Senegal and all African Union countries.
Shaikh Abdullah then met with Kaba. The meeting tackled the relations of mutual cooperation and friendship between the UAE and Senegal in various fields, including economic, commercial, cultural and aviation sectors. Following the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Kaba signed a loan agreement between the Republic of Senegal and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to finance the solar energy project for rural areas worth $13 million.
The UAE Foreign Minister was then received by Moustapha Niasse, president of Senegal’s National Assembly. During the meeting, they discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the trade, investment and parliamentary sectors.
