Dubai: You can now eat gold for just Dh55. Yes, you read that right. A premium ice cream parlour called Rolling Cones at the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights has introduced a novel soft serve scoop topped by an edible sheet of 22 carat gold which you happily gorge on without having to keep tabs on the ever-increasing rates of the yellow metal.
Sunaina Khanna Harisinghani, who has launched the new concept along with Prateek Shah, told XPRESS the pure edible gold ice-cream has a hard-to-resist crunch to it.
Rolling Luxury
Called the Rolling Luxury, it is the most premium product served at the dessert parlour.
“The waffle cone is freshly baked and it is coated with chocolate outside. At the bottom of the cone is a Ferrero Rocher sauce with hazelnuts and wafers. The actual ice-cream comes in different flavours: French vanilla, chocolate and Lotus. There’s a pistachio option - Fior Di Pistachio Variegato - as well, in which case pistachio sauce made from pistachios is used with pistachios lending the crunch.”
She said once the ice-cream serving is in place, a sheet of edible gold of the finest quality is added to it. Pearls and stars of sugar along with saffron are also sprinkled. We also provide a pure chocolate stick which is very delicate and exclusive.”
According to Shah, Rolling Luxury is a great fit in a city like Dubai which is “all about gold – luxury, innovation and premium.”
He said besides the taste, every ice-cream that is churned out at the parlour is a visual treat. My Precious, for instance, is piece of art with its exotic soft serve laced with pistachio sauce and lotus biscuit crumbs. Even the Rolling Cones Coffee is different with the Cappuccino or Espresso served in a dark chocolate glazed premium waffle cone.
