The Engineering and Buildings Department of Dubai Police has completed the final designs for a building to house the new Air Wing centre.

Lt. Col. Eng. Abdullah Hamid bin Dalmouk, Director of the directorate, said the total area of the project, which is being designed by a national company, will be 166,000 square feet. The area of the main building alone will be 82,000 square feet.

It will comprise buildings for administration, engineering, staff accommodation, as well as helipads, on an area of 41,582 square feet.

It will be built to accommodate 13 helicopters and designed to meet all security requirements. The ground floor of the centre will comprise a room to train pilots and first aid rooms, restrooms and dining hall. The first floor will contain offices and meeting halls.

The main building will contain a services section, and a workshop equipped with a crane for repair work.

The service building will contain a store housing instruments and other equipment for aircraft, as well as offices for maintenance technicians.

The two-storey engineering section will have on the ground floor engineers offices, a maintenance technicians warehouse, while the first floor will be for senior engineers and have an assembly hall and a library.

There will also be parking for guests and staff.

He added that the new centre will perform the task of aerial surveying of Dubai, and respond to emergencies, in particular accidents and rescue. It will also follow up all the activities during festivals, monitor sea port and cover television programmes.
