Sharjah Police introduce Spider gun to catch criminals and control crowd

Sharjah: Sharjah Police are introducing a new device to control unruly crowds and arrest criminals without harm.

The new device titled ‘Spider Gun’ was revealed by Colonel Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, deputy chief of Sharjah Police, on Thursday in the presence of a number of senior police officers.

The spider gun works by launching ‘catching nets’ at wanted criminals and those who participate in crowd unrest and thus enmeshing them.

The new device will ensure a safe process of making an arrest taking into account human rights, said Col Bin Amer.

He explained that the new device was introduced in response to the directives of the wise leadership to improve efficiency of the devices used by police and to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in combating crimes.
