The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced a tie-up with Microsoft and Itqan to build an e-government and e-commerce portal.
The e-government and e-commerce initiative will incorporate the chamber's vast information to build a portal serving as a single, comprehensive platform offering chamber information and online services.
"The chamber's vision is to integrate technology in its operations in order to streamline inter-department workflow and to maintain consistency in our successful relationships with the business community by providing better services," Director-General Mohammed Omar Abdullah said.
The chamber is a pioneer in implementing web-based technology and in taking the initiative to offer web-based services, said Abdul Latif Almulla, business development manager for Mircrosoft in the UAE.
During the first phase of the initiative, three major services will be moved to the Internet, namely commerce and industrial membership system, chargeable services and the direct mailer. The second phase will extend the chamber's services to business processes executed in other departments and will build a portal for members.
